BioMy name is Karen Chmielewski, and I am the artist behind KarenKrafts. I have been needle-felting since 1999 when my grandmother taught me what she had learned in a class; I fell in love with the craft immediately! In 2003, I realized that people were interested in buying my work, and slowly, I got KarenKrafts started. All KarenKrafts creations are made in a non-smoking, pet-free home.Every time I go to a craft fair with my needle-felted creations, people are amazed that none of them are made from a kit or a pattern. I just enjoy creating animals, people and objects that pop into my head. However, I also welcome and encourage custom orders. Customers have commissioned dolls made in their likeness, Christmas ornaments made in their pet's likeness, Christmas Elf ornaments made with specific skin, hair, eye and hat colors, and bookmarks made in specific shapes and colors. I currently live in Somerville, MA (right outside of Boston), and am pursuing a Masters in Library and Information Science.
